What we saw

Our visit to the Seafood Expo left us with a few impressions. We were intrigued with the range and diversity of the products we saw inside the Gran Via. The seafood displayed and offered as taste samples was outstanding. The chefs from Chile, Italy and of course Spain presented mouthwatering nibbles worth the sometimes-lengthy walk between the stands. Additionally, the technology which was showcased often made for a slight pause and inspection at the impressive stand set-ups. The particularly unexpected placement of a sizeable blue container between Iceland`s booths peaked several passersby`s interest.

What we heard

During our conversations with other attendees, we made note of a handful of prevalent topics of discussion this year. Perhaps inevitably the impact and downflow of the current oil crisis was on many person`s minds, and the complex ramifications of the situation were highlighted. Booking the flight tickets undoubtably hit the wallet a bit harder in 2026. The interplay between emerging markets and volatile tariffs was also commonly mentioned. Changes in consumer patterns, both regarding locality and preference, created eager discussion between market players planning for the coming year.

As the Global Seafood Expo Barcelona 2026 has come to a close, and we have arrived home and unpacked our suitcases, we are already looking forward to the Global Seafood Expo 2027.
